Relations between India and China demonstrate positive dynamics, and Beijing promised to satisfy New Delhi's needs in rare-earth metals, a high-ranking Indian official and source told Reuters. Neighboring countries restore the connections that suffered after the 2020 border conflict.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Van and is in India on a visit to participate in the 24th round of border negotiations with the National Security Council of India Adjite Doval. Also today, on Tuesday, a meeting is planned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will go to China a few days to the Shanghai Cooperation Summit.
Dolled Van said at the beginning of the negotiations:
“There is a positive trend. On the borders are quiet. Peace and calm reign. Our bilateral contacts have become more informative. ”
He noted that the new atmosphere helped the countries in various fields of cooperation. Van, for his part, emphasized that the stable and healthy development of Sino-Indian relations meets the indigenous interests of the peoples of both countries.
Prior to this, the Indian source Reuters reported that China promised to solve three key problems of India. Van and assured the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Subramanamyama Jaishankara that Beijing is working on the satisfaction of India's needs in fertilizers, rare -earth metals and tunnel -resistant machines. It is still unclear whether China agreed to speed up the issuance of export licenses or provide general exceptions to India. India has the fifth in the world of reserves of rare -earth elements - 6.9 million tons, but does not produce magnets and relies on imports, mainly from China.
Earlier it became known that Chinese oil refineries sharply increased the purchases of Russian oil by Urals, taking advantage of the fact that India reduced imports against the background of pressure from the United States. In August, Urals deliveries to China reached almost 75 thousand barrels per day - twice as high in the average indicator of this year. At the same time, export to India decreased to 400 thousand barrels per day against an average level of 1.18 million.
