In Russia, for the first time, a dog owner was fined for not removing urine from the grass.

A Moscow resident was fined for not removing her dog’s urine from a flowerbed. The Mash Telegram channel and the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper write about this, noting that this is the first such case in Russia. The owner of the dog Zephyr, Nadezhda (last name not given), was ordered to pay 1,500 rubles. She intends to appeal the fine.

The Veterinary Committee, which is responsible for state supervision of the treatment of animals, said that dog walkers must not only clean up excrement after their animals, but also wash off urine, for which they must carry a bottle of water with them. According to Nadezhda, a neighbor wrote a complaint against her, who hates dogs and previously even scattered poison around the yard. The neighbor said that Nadezhda allegedly does not clean up after the animal.

The Federal Law “On the Responsible Treatment of Animals” of 2018 states that their owners, when walking, are obliged to “ensure the cleaning of animal waste products in public places and territories” (Article 13).
