The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has recognized the Equal Rights Trust as an “undesirable” organization. She helped defend herself in the ECHR and fight discrimination

The British human rights organization received the status of “undesirable” due to “participation in an anti-Russian information campaign,” support for LGBTQ+ people “with the aim of destroying the family and moral values ​​of Russians” and “developing schemes for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, members of the Equal Rights Trust “assisted opposition-minded Russians in acquiring citizenship of Eastern European countries in exchange for them concluding an agreement to donate funds to support the people of Ukraine, and in fact, for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” At the same time, the Equal Rights Trust website states that the NPO ceased operations on September 30, 2025, after 15 years of work due to lack of funding.

The Equal Rights Trust is a British non-profit organization that works to protect people from different countries from discrimination. In particular, they represented the interests of applicants in national and international courts (for example, the European and Inter-American Courts of Human Rights), supported human rights defenders, created manuals for lawyers, and prepared reports on issues of equality and the rights of vulnerable groups in different countries. For example, in 2016, the Equal Rights Trust presented a report on the rights of LGBTQ people in Russian judicial practice. There are no publications on its website about assisting Russians in acquiring citizenship for financial assistance to Ukraine.

On November 30, 2023, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the “international public movement of LGBT people” as an extremist organization and banned its activities in Russia.
