The US, UK and Australia imposed sanctions against a Russian hosting company for participation in cyber attacks

The US, UK and Australia have imposed sanctions on Russian hosting company Media Land, several of its executives and three associated firms for their roles in attacks against US critical infrastructure and fraudulent extortion campaigns. This was reported by the specialized publication TechCrunch.

U.S. officials alleged that Media Land provided services to various criminal ransomware groups, such as LockBit, BlackSuit and Play, and advertised itself as a “bulletproof” hosting provider that was resistant to law enforcement. Among the company's managers, its owner Alexander Volosovik, known under the pseudonym Yalishanda, was also sanctioned.

The UK Foreign Office said it was also designating British company Hypercore, which was set up as a shell company for Aeza Group, another bulletproof provider hit by US sanctions in July.
