Twitter (X) has banned the European Commission from advertising on the platform after being fined for violating European law

The management of the social network Twitter (X) closed the advertising account of the European Commission after the agency imposed a fine of €120 million on the platform for violating the European Digital Services Act (DSA). This is reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

Twitter product manager Nikita Bir wrote on his page on the social network that the European Commission violated the rules of the platform with a post containing information about the fine imposed on Twitter:

“You logged into your inactive ad account to exploit a vulnerability in our Ad Composer to post a link that would trick users into believing it was a video and artificially increase its reach. As you may know, X believes everyone should have equal rights on our platform. However, it appears that you believe that these rules should not apply to your account. Your advertising account has been closed."

The original tweet from the European Commission actually contains a video from the press conference, which, when clicked, “redirects” the user to the agency’s website.

Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski came into conflict with the owner of the social network, Elon Musk, via Twitter. On his Twitter page, Musk wrote: “How long until the EU disappears? Cancel the EU." Sikorsky answered him: “Go to Mars. There you can show the Nazi salute without censorship.”
