An immigration program has officially launched in the United States, involving the purchase of a “Trump gold card” for foreigners for $1 million

US President Donald Trump has officially launched the “gold card” program, a new immigration option that will allow foreigners to pay $1 million for an expedited visa, CNN reports . Companies will be able to sponsor a foreign worker for $2 million. Trumpcard.gov went live on Wednesday afternoon and promises “U.S. residency in record time.”

Once documents are submitted, the process will take “weeks” and will include an interview, the website says. For a $15,000 Department of Homeland Security fee and a $1 million background check fee, the applicant will receive lawful permanent resident status on an EB-1 or EB-2 visa, work visas for people with “extraordinary” or “exceptional” abilities.

The site is also announcing an upcoming $5 million “Trump Platinum Card,” which will allow foreigners to spend up to 270 days a year in the U.S. without paying U.S. taxes on income earned outside the country. It is not specified when exactly the platinum option will be launched.

Trump first announced the gold card program in February, promising a path to citizenship for wealthy foreigners for $5 million. In September, he signed an executive order creating the program.
