Animal rights activist from Lyubertsy Evgenia Konforkina was sentenced to 15 years in prison

43-year-old animal rights activist from Lyubertsy near Moscow Evgenia Konforkina was sentenced by age 15 imprisonment. The decision was made by judge of the 2nd Western District Military Court Vadim Krasnov. As The Insider learned, he found Konforkina guilty of “treason” and “participation in the activities of a terrorist organization.” According to the verdict, she will also have to pay a fine of 300 thousand rubles.

Evgenia Konforkina was arrested in October 2024. She is accused of collecting information about the security regime of the Lyubertsy helicopter manufacturing center, including filming this facility on the instructions of the Freedom of Russia Legion (LSR).

The state prosecution requested 18 years in a general regime colony for her. In court, she admitted the factual circumstances of the case, but did not agree with its qualifications.

During the hearing, it turned out that she sent the questionnaire to LSR using a mailbox on Mail.ru, and her presence near a sensitive facility was noticed by a video surveillance operator using cameras. Konforkina herself stated in court that she believed that she was communicating with scammers and was following their instructions just to see how far it could all go. At the same time, Evgenia said that shortly before sending the questionnaire, she communicated with a man from the Ukrainian Dnepropetrovsk, who made her feel guilty for the fact that during these years, being a Russian woman, “she is not doing anything.”

“The motive for the crime charged to me is sympathy for Nazism, Russophobia...” said Evgenia Konforkina in her last word. - Such a long sentence that characterizes me negatively is inaccurate. The feeling I felt is called “empathy.”
