The founder and commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, Denis Kapustin, did not die, despite earlier reports of his death. According to the Ukrainian special services, information about the death was spread deliberately - to cover up the operation to save his life.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, the assassination attempt on Kapustin was ordered by Russian special services; about half a million dollars were allegedly allocated for its organization.
“As a result of a complex special operation by the State Intelligence Service of Ukraine, which lasted more than a month, the life of RDK commander Denis Kapustin, whom Russian dictator Vladimir Putin considers his personal enemy, was saved, and the circle of persons who ordered the crime in the Russian special services and perpetrators was established,” the State Intelligence Directorate said in a statement.
Ukrainian intelligence also stated that the funds intended for the murder of Kapustin were received by the Ukrainian side and will be used to strengthen special units. In addition, the Main Intelligence Directorate published a video in which Denis Kapustin announced his readiness to continue carrying out combat and special missions.
