Chatbot with artificial intelligence Grok will be integrated into the Pentagon's information systems. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced this on Monday, January 12, during a speech at SpaceX headquarters in Texas. Last month, the Pentagon chief announced the launch of the Gemini-based GenAI.mil platform, which he called "the future of American warfare."
Grok will be integrated into the military department's systems by the end of the month. He will have access to intelligence and other information from the ministry.
“Soon, the world’s best artificial intelligence models will be embedded in all of our department’s unclassified and classified networks,” Hegseth said.
The chatbot of businessman Elon Musk will complement the GenAI.mil system already working in the Pentagon based on Gemini from Google. Her appearance at the ministry became known last month. As reported, the platform will be a custom chatbot interface based on Google Gemini, capable of handling some types of sensitive, but not classified data.
In announcing the platform's work, Hegseth then promised that such technologies would make the US military "more lethal than ever." Now he noted that the “days of fair AI” that works to “ensure diversity, equality and social justice” are over and this only limits technology. The Pentagon, he said, “will not use AI models that do not allow wars to be fought.”
