US Vice President Vance visited the genocide memorial in Yerevan and posted a tweet about it, but then deleted it

Answering questions from journalists, Vance said that he visited Tsitsernakaberd at the request of the Armenian authorities. “We were told that visiting this place is very important,” said the US vice president.

From Yerevan, Vance went on a visit to Azerbaijan.

In April 2021, Joe Biden became the first US president to officially recognize the mass killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire between 1915 and 1923 as genocide. Since the Donald Trump administration took office, U.S. officials have avoided using the word “genocide” in their statements, which has been noted by Armenian media and human rights groups.
