The UK imposed sanctions against Transneft and Rosatom structures

The UK authorities have updated the anti-Russian sanctions list. It included the Transneft company and Rosatom structures, as follows from the official press release .

London explains the new British sanctions by tightening control over sources of income from Russian energy, as well as key suppliers of military equipment. In particular, Transneft PJSC, which is responsible for transporting more than 80% of Russian oil exports, was subject to restrictions, the press release states.

The measures also affected the so-called “shadow fleet”: 175 companies associated with Coral Energy (now 2Rivers Group), which controls a significant part of the “shadow fleet” vessels, were sanctioned. London introduced sanctions against it back in December 2024.

In addition, there are at least three companies from Rosatom structures on the sanctions list. These are Rusatom Overseas, which promotes the company's projects for the construction of nuclear power plants abroad, Rosatom Energy International, which specializes in managing foreign projects for the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, as well as the consulting company REIN ENGINEERING.

In total, 297 lines were added to the sanctions list: an additional 240 legal entities, seven people and 50 sea vessels were included in it.

On Monday, February 23, the EU announced sanctions against eight Russians it accused of repression. The 20th package of sanctions is at the approval stage in Brussels; it was previously blocked by Hungary.
