Tolyatti resident Polina Yevtushenko was sentenced to 14 years in prison. She discussed the war with a provocateur

27-year-old Polina Yevtushenko was sentenced to 14 years in prison in a case initiated by a provocateur who met her on the VKontakte social network and discussed the war. This was reported by RusNews and SotaVision .

The prosecutor previously requested 18 years in prison for Yevtushenko. As SotaVision notes, the judge practically did not accept the defense’s motions and sided with the prosecution from the very beginning.

Polina Yevtushenko was detained in July 2023 at the gates of a kindergarten, where she brought her five-year-old daughter. Now she has been found guilty under six articles of the Criminal Code. In particular, she was charged with articles about preparing for treason, promoting terrorism, public calls for terrorism and extremism, rehabilitation of Nazism, and spreading “fake news” about the army.

The charges against Yevtushenko were based on recordings of her conversations with Samara resident Nikolai Komarov. According to investigators, Polina Yevtushenko persuaded him to join the “Freedom of Russia” legion, which the Russian authorities consider a terrorist organization.

As the media later found out, Komarov himself initiated the communication: he met Yevtushenko on the VKontakte social network, constantly asked her about the war, mobilization, attitude towards Russia and Ukraine, and secretly recorded all conversations on a voice recorder. He handed over all these records to the FSB.

Lawyers and independent experts noted that Yevtushenko did not persuade Komarov to join the Freedom of Russia legion, but, on the contrary, dissuaded him from it. The FSB expert linguist interpreted her individual phrases as “creating a positive image of the enemy” and “inducement in an indirect way.”
