Alternative for Germany allocated €35 ​​thousand for a conference of right-wing movements in Washington

The faction in the Bundestag of the far-right party Alternative for Germany allocated €35 ​​thousand to hold the Alliance of Sovereign Nations conference in Washington. The Alliance is led by Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna and unites right-wing political forces from different countries. The conference took place from March 3 to 5. This was reported by Die Zeit. According to German law, parliamentary factions receive funding from the state budget.

“For the part of the conference organized by the AfD parliamentary faction, the faction allocates €35 thousand. The participation of the Alternatives for Germany parliamentary group in the conference serves to present to parliamentarians from the United States and other countries the foreign policy work and position of the AfD parliamentary group on current legislative initiatives,” a party representative told reporters. The main organizer of the conference was Turning Point Action, a subsidiary of Turning Point USA founded by Charlie Kirk, a Trump supporter who was assassinated in September 2025.

The AfD delegation at the conference included the main candidate for the elections to the Landtag of Baden-Württemberg Markus Frohnmayer, Bundestag deputy Anna Rathert and member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament Mark Bernhardt, who, according to sources, came at his own expense. Because of the trip, Frohnmayer even missed the AfD's final campaign event in Baden-Württemberg.

Representatives of the AfD often travel to America to meet with Republicans: for example, last fall, Jan Wenzel Schmidt and Kai Gottschalk attended a private reception in Manhattan organized by the New York Young Republicans Club, where they complained about the lack of democracy in Germany and sang the banned first stanza of the German anthem “Song of the Germans,” containing the words “Germany above all” (Deutschland über alles). When the song was created in 1841, these words meant a call for the unification of German lands, but later they were actively used in Nazi propaganda.
