US President Donald Trump promised that in two days “all hell will fall on Iran.”

“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to make a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz? Time is running out - in 48 hours hell will fall on them,” the US President wrote on his social network Truth.

On April 3, The Wall Street Journal reported , citing sources, that an attempt to conclude a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran through the mediation of Pakistan had failed. Representatives of Iran said that they do not intend to negotiate with the American side in Islamabad and consider the demands that the United States is putting forward to conclude a peace agreement unacceptable. Iran, in turn, as experts point out, is putting forward conditions that are obviously impossible for the United States to end the war.

Donald Trump, in an address on April 1, said that the issue of regulating the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz should be taken up by the countries that are most interested in this, and the United States is only ready to assist them in this. However, two days later, Trump said that the United States needed a little more time and it would “without difficulty” open the Strait of Hormuz, “take the oil and make a fortune.”

Experts interviewed by Reuters said an attempt to use force to open the Strait of Hormuz could drag out the war with Iran, which Trump expects to end in weeks. Iran, according to American intelligence, is unlikely to voluntarily open the Strait of Hormuz to shipping traffic in the near future, since control over it is Tehran’s only real lever of influence on the United States.
