In Dagestan, two men died after visiting a police department in the Buynaksky district. This was announced by the Chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission of the Republic, Shamil Khadulaev, in his Telegram channel with reference to appeals from relatives.
According to him, we are talking about the events that followed the shootout on March 30 in the village of Nizhny Dzhengutai, as a result of which police officers were wounded. After the incident, witnesses and relatives of one of the suspects arrived at the district police department.
According to the applicants, one of the witnesses, after visiting the police department the next morning, April 4, committed suicide. The second man, born in 1947, a relative of the suspect, died on the morning of April 5 after a short stay at the police department on April 3. This information, as Khadulaev emphasized, was conveyed from the words of relatives of the deceased.
According to the POC, both cases are being investigated by the Investigative Committee for the Republic of Dagestan.
The shootout, after which relatives and witnesses were taken to the police department, occurred on the evening of March 30. According to media reports and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the fight, one of the participants opened fire on police officers, injuring two of them. The suspect was detained, the court arrested him in the case of an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers.
Earlier, complaints of violence were also reported at the Buinaksk police department. In particular, local resident Magomed Gaziev stated that in 2021, police officers used torture against him to extract confessions.
