The FSB reported the detention of a German citizen born in 1969, who was allegedly preparing a terrorist attack in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Territory). As the intelligence service said in a statement, the detainee had a backpack with her, which contained a homemade explosive device. The bomb was allegedly made of explosives with a capacity of 1.5 kg of TNT and filled with destructive elements.
It follows from the message that the terrorist attack was planned to be carried out in the building of one of the law enforcement agencies with the participation of another person - a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries born in 1997, who is described as a “supporter of radical ideology.” According to the FSB, he “had to detonate the IED by remote detonation, and the woman would die on the spot. Moreover, the man’s actions were coordinated by members of the Ukrainian special services under the guise of members of one of the international terrorist organizations banned in the Russian Federation.”
It is also alleged that the German citizen was previously used as a dropper in fraudulent schemes. The detainees allegedly admitted that they took the explosives from caches equipped by the Ukrainian special services. A criminal case was opened regarding preparation for a terrorist attack (part 3 of article 30, paragraph “a”, part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
