British authorities have expanded the sanctions list by adding more than 80 Russian individuals and legal entities. Among others, it included organizations and people involved in state propaganda.
“The UK has imposed sanctions against those involved in the forced deportation, indoctrination and militarization of Ukrainian children, as well as against those leading Russia’s information war campaigns. In some of the toughest operations to date, the UK is identifying and disrupting hostile Russian activity on a variety of fronts, including recent attempts to interfere in the Armenian elections.”
Among those on the list is the Internet Development Institute (ANO IRI), an NGO created in 2015 on the initiative of the presidential administration. Among the co-founders are the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Science and Education. IRI is headed by Alexander Goreslavsky. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the organization has been financing propaganda projects , for which several billion rubles are allocated.
The register also included the general director of ANO Dialog Vladimir Tabak and the head of the department of strategic directions Timofey Vasiliev. The organization itself came under sanctions from London at the end of 2024, together with GC Structural LLC, as well as the Social Design Agency. The new sanctions list included 49 people whom London considers affiliated with this organization.
As The Insider wrote , all three organizations are behind the Kremlin’s fake news network and are connected to the GRU. This is, in particular, the network of Doppelgänger bots, which distributes fictitious anti-Western and anti-Ukrainian news published on websites that are clones of famous publications.
Britain has also imposed restrictions on the Expert Institute for Social Research (ESRI), which appeared in 2017. As the media wrote ( 1 , 2 ), he performs the functions of a think tank under the presidential administration, including developing the “image of the future” of the country.
The list also included the Center for Military Sports Training and Patriotic Education of Youth (“Warrior Center”), as well as the head of Rosmolodezh - Grigory Gurov and the Yunarmiya - Vladislav Golovin, director of the Lugansk Cossack Cadet Corps Andrey Ustinskikh, children's ombudsman of the Novosibirsk region Nadezhda Boltenko, children's camps "Sondovon" in North Korea, "Pearl", sanatorium "Zdravnitsa", Center for the Study of Youth Environment and Network Monitoring, Sevastopol State University.
