On May 13, 2026, it became known that the Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg fined Uzbek citizen Faizullojon Dadaboev and expelled him from the country for “illegal missionary work.”
On the evening of May 12, he performed namaz, spreading a prayer rug on the lawn near one of the houses on Savushkina Street. He was detained by police officers, believing that Dadaboev, without the appropriate authority, acted as an imam, and the prayer was not coordinated with the authorities or local government.
The court found him guilty under Part 5 of Art. 5.26 of the Administrative Code (carrying out missionary activity in violation of the requirements of legislation on freedom of conscience, freedom of religion and religious associations, committed by a foreign citizen) and sentenced him to a fine of 30 thousand rubles and deportation from the country.
