Police began detaining protesters against deforestation in Moscow's Kuntsevo. The prefect said that a “military facility” was being built there

The detentions began after the prefect of the Western Administrative District of Moscow, Alexei Alexandrov, arrived at the site. In the video, he tells residents: “A military facility is being built, what else do you need?” According to him, the work should be completed in the next 7-10 days. At the same time, the residents, as they claim, were never shown the documents and permits for logging.

Earlier, more than a hundred residents of Kuntsevo and other districts of Moscow gathered at the Medic stadium on May 24, demanding to stop deforestation in the Moskvoretsky Park. According to RusNews, residents, workers, government and police linked the work to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Ministry of Defense has not publicly commented on these reports.
