At a meeting on June 5, the commission rejected the proposal to perpetuate the memory of three veterans of the Great Patriotic War and one deceased participant in the war with Ukraine.
The commission referred to a provision that prohibits the use of genitive constructions in street names.
The pro-war publication “Chesnok” notes that the commission itself violated this provision by renaming the street of the Paris Commune in 2022 into the street of Hero of Russia Kutuzov in honor of the general who died in the war with Ukraine.
