75-year-old Ilya Traber was detained on June 17 in St. Petersburg, after which he was transported to Moscow and taken to the Basmanny Court. He sent him to a pre-trial detention center, as reported by many Russian media. Traber was arrested in the case of the contract murder of Vyborg city council deputy and crime boss Alexander Petrov.
Nadirbegov is called the perpetrator of the murder. As RBC wrote , Nadirbegov was a former professional boxer. Alexander Petrov was killed in 2020. A sniper shot him near his own house in a village near Vyborg.
It was reported the day before that his business partner Vladimir Danilenko was detained along with Traber. They also searched one of the leaders of the Tambov-Malyshevskaya organized crime group, Gennady Petrov, who is closely connected with Traber.
The Insider's source in the Moscow City Court said that Traber's case could be transferred to closed mode.
“Usually sensitive cases and cases that can cause a stir are transferred to closed mode. This is done so that the case can be, firstly, quickly considered, and secondly, certain issues related to the case can be resolved.
In the future, based on the situation, they can do whatever they deem necessary, including closing the case altogether.”
