A Georgian citizen has been detained in the case of the murder of artist Skrepetsky, Polish Prime Minister Tusk said.

A suspect has been detained in Poland for involvement in the murder of Russian opposition artist and cartoonist Semyon Skrepetsky (real name Robert Kuzovkov). As Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Twitter, the detainee “uses a Georgian passport.”

According to Tusk, the arrest was carried out by the Lublin Voivodeship police and the Polish Internal Security Agency.

44-year-old Skrepecki was shot dead on the morning of June 15 in a parking lot in the town of Biała Podlaska, Lublin Voivodeship. Two citizens of Belarus were detained on suspicion of involvement in the crime. They were soon released because law enforcement authorities concluded that they had nothing to do with the murder.

Semyon Skrepetsky emigrated to Poland in 2021. In his works and public actions, he ridiculed Vladimir Putin, the Russian authorities and the war against Ukraine. In addition, the artist regularly ridiculed the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, and his son Adam, depicting them as pigs. Skrepetsky regularly received threats from Chechens on Instagram.
