A court in Murom sentenced a local resident to 5 years in prison on charges of fraud.

Posing as an employee of military investigative agencies, he deceived the relatives of a participant in the war with Ukraine.

“He gave them false information that the fighter was being investigated for falsifying medical documents and wasting uniforms and ammunition. To be convincing, he showed fictitious service IDs and other documents.

Promising an end to the checks, from November 13 to November 21, 2024, the defendant fraudulently stole almost 350 thousand rubles from relatives, which they gave to him on the territory of Murom during three meetings,” the Investigative Committee said.
