The students were told that they would be conducting exercises “near Moscow or somewhere else” and “shooting down drones near Moscow and the Moscow Region.”
However, the document that one of the students was given to sign turned out to be not an agreement on alternative service, but an indefinite contract for stay in a volunteer formation - the BARS "Moscow" brigade. At the same time, the student had already managed to sign it, but he was lucky - the one with whom he signed the contract was new, did not fully understand his responsibilities and calmly allowed everything to be canceled.
Walk Through the Woods said students could be misled directly by schools by presenting military contracts as “alternative service,” a “year-long contract,” or a training program related to drones and air defense.
The project urged students to carefully check any documents related to military service and volunteer units before signing them.
