In Yekaterinburg, the court rendered a verdict in the case of inscriptions on the facades of buildings

Daniil Nuryev was sentenced to three years of forced labor.

On June 10, 2026, the Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg passed a verdict in the criminal case of Daniil Nuryev, born in 2003, under Part 2 of Art. 214 of the Criminal Code (vandalism motivated by national hatred), Part 1 of Art. 280 (public calls for extremist activities), Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism).

The court sentenced Daniil Nuryev to three years of forced labor.

Let us recall that Nuryev was accused of writing 13 black inscriptions in the Azerbaijani language on July 2, 2025 in the Kirovsky district of Yekaterinburg - “Death to Russians.” The inscriptions were written with an error - instead of ölüm (translated from Azerbaijani - death) it was written örüm (there is no such word in literary Azerbaijani, the closest is ördüm, meaning “I knitted/woven”). Versions were discussed on social networks that the inscriptions were written by radical Azerbaijanis or ethnic Armenians “to escalate interethnic tension.” Among other things, there was graffiti on the building of the Vodokanal municipal unitary enterprise, whose representative filed a claim in court for 9,180 rubles for painting over the inscription.

Nuryev received the assignment and sketches from 24-year-old photographer Rishat Takaev from Bashkortostan, and he from an unknown person with the Telegram account “Kristina Korallova”.

Takaev said that he discovered “Korallova” in “one of the chats for finding illegal part-time work.” In January 2025, she suggested that he set fire to the relay cabinets, but he refused and asked for an “easier job.” Nuryev, to whom Takaev proposed this, also refused. Since February, Takaev gave Nuryev a part-time job - drawing in Ufa either two crossed triangles or the letter “B”, for which they received $100-150 for two in cryptocurrency. Nuryev drew, and Takaev took photographs and stood “on the fence.” Further, “Korallova” offered to draw inscriptions in Azerbaijani “ruslara ölüm” in Yekaterinburg and explained that this was “an order from a drug shop.” “Korallova” paid Takaev 20-30 dollars, but Nuryev did not receive this money: Takaev did not like that the graffiti was written with an error and was in the “wrong font.”

The neo-Nazi organization NS/WP claimed responsibility for the graffiti.

Nuryev was detained by security forces on July 20, 2025. He spent 2.5 months in a pre-trial detention center, after which he was released on his own recognizance. He admitted guilt, but since March he stopped appearing at meetings. As a result, on April 9, Nuryev was taken to a pre-trial detention center.

Takaev has been in a pre-trial detention center in Yekaterinburg since the end of July 2025 on charges of complicity in public calls for extremist activity (Part 1 of Article 30 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code), vandalism (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code) and hooliganism committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code). Nuryev had an accomplice, Gleb Repyev, who watched what was happening around him while Nuryev wrote graffiti. Repyev was sentenced to a year of forced labor in March.
