Lavrov’s fake: Ukrainian media, when they write about Trump’s change in position, are wishful thinking

“Vesti” in an article entitled “Lavrov doubted media reports about Trump’s permission for Kiev to tighten actions” says :

“Ukrainian media reports that US President Donald Trump allegedly allowed Kyiv to tighten its actions against the Russian Federation are an attempt to pass off wishful thinking, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Primakov Readings forum.
Lavrov recalled an article in one of the Ukrainian publications, which said that Trump “gave the go-ahead” to tighten military action against Russian territory. The information in the material was given with reference to an anonymous source, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry clarified.
"I don't think this reflects reality. It is rather wishful thinking as reality," Lavrov said.
Earlier, The Kyiv Independent, citing an unnamed Ukrainian official, reported that Trump “privately” advised the head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to act “more boldly.” Another official, an American one, allegedly said that the US President “considers force to be a key factor.”

There is no reaction from the White House to the reports, the veracity of which Lavrov doubts. But they are indirectly confirmed by other sources. Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with France 2 on June 18, the day after the end of the G7 summit in Evian:

“He [Trump] came thinking Ukraine would lose. But he changed his mind. He also saw that Russia was not fulfilling its obligations. There really was a shift [attitude] at this G7 summit.”

On the day the summit ended, Politico published an article “How Macron convinced Trump at the G7 summit. Until the next conflict,” which says :

The defining moment at the G7 leaders' summit in France came on Tuesday when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky showed Donald Trump photographs of the burning Dormition Cathedral in Kiev. The sight of the flaming golden domes and the damage inflicted by a Russian airstrike on the 11th-century architectural masterpiece clearly touched the US president, three G7 officials said.
They felt Zelensky's intervention was likely the final push that led Trump to back Ukraine more firmly in Wednesday's joint declaration. “I think [he] was genuinely touched,” said one G7 official, who requested anonymity to discuss private meetings.
Although Zelensky showed off the photos, it was French President Emmanuel Macron who, as host, planned the summit and precisely how to win over the unpredictable American leader.
The meeting in the Alpine resort town of Evian-les-Bains was initially expected to end in diplomatic failure - even preventing Trump's premature departure from the EU would be considered a success - but Macron eventually pulled off a surprise coup, persuading Trump and forcing him to commit to more military support for Kyiv.
It was a diplomatic victory built on years of work to flatter Trump and align his actions with his priorities—in this case, on everything from minesweepers to Chinese rare earths.
In terms of persuading Trump on Ukraine, Macron led a group of G7 leaders at a dinner Monday night where they tailored their statements to Trump's binary view of global power politics, presenting Ukraine as the winner and Russia as the loser in the final stages of the war.
At Monday's dinner overlooking Lake Geneva, the assembled G7 leaders discussed the Middle East at length and, for strategic purposes, lavished praise on Trump's Iran deal. “They all explained to Trump that Zelensky is winning because Russia... cannot cross the front line and is even losing territory,” said a European diplomat. “And Russia continues to shell civilians, sacred places.” The main message was that a wounded Moscow was falling into despair and striking indiscriminately.”

The Financial Times in the article “Vladimir Putin has become disillusioned with Donald Trump due to recent changes in his position on Ukraine” notes :

“Russia has accused the United States of abandoning efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine after Donald Trump appeared to again change his position in favor of Kyiv.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday that the United States “seems to be moving away from the role of an objective mediator” in the war and has “forgotten” Trump’s own statements last year were gradually moving closer to Moscow’s position.
Instead, Trump was “very impressed and encouraged” by Ukraine's recent campaign of long-range strikes against targets deep inside Russia at last week's G7 summit, two sources familiar with private discussions between the leaders said. At this summit, Trump also agreed to strengthen sanctions against Russian energy.
These strikes, which have since intensified, including attacks on military installations around Moscow and an oil refinery on the outskirts of the city, are being supported by US intelligence; Western allies urged Washington to continue to provide intelligence.
Lavrov's comments were the clearest sign yet of growing frustration in Russia over the United States' failure to help end President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, now in its fifth year, on terms favorable to Moscow.
Russia, Lavrov said at a foreign policy conference in Moscow, “will focus on achieving the goals [of the invasion] on the basis that any hope that the United States could be an honest broker has long been dashed.”

It seems that Lavrov, putting a good face on a bad game, is trying to ignore the publication, partly based on his own statements.
