In Beijing, a light aircraft allegedly crashed into the tallest skyscraper in the Chinese capital, the 109-story CITIC Tower. This was reported by a CNN correspondent from the scene.
Fire trucks, police cars and an ambulance were seen near the building. People were evacuated from the skyscraper.
Footage is being circulated on social media showing debris falling from the tower, presumably fragments of the plane. The published photographs also show the tail of the aircraft and a damaged taxi near the scene of the incident.
According to CNN, the registration number of the aircraft in the published photographs indicates a light sport aircraft Sunward SA60L Aurora made in China, owned by one of the local aviation companies.
Unconfirmed data from the Flightradar24 service also appeared on the network, indicating a sharp deviation of the plane from its route before the incident.
Chinese authorities have not yet reported the cause of the incident, as well as possible injuries or deaths.
Since May 1, Beijing has had strict restrictions on the use of drones: without special permission from the authorities, residents are prohibited from buying, renting or launching drones in the city.
