Anthropic (the company behind the chatbot Claude) announced that the US government has allowed it to open access to its Mythos 5 model to some “trusted” US organizations. The decision partially reverses an order issued by US authorities two weeks ago that required the company to block foreign access to the AI models of Mythos 5 and Fable 5.
The company itself clarifies on its social networks that the model can again be used by companies “that manage and protect critical infrastructure.”
According to Reuters, more than a hundred companies and organizations will have access to Mythos 5. Including those included in the Fortune 500 list - the top 500 largest US companies by revenue.
Access to the Claude Fable 5 model remains closed. The developers write that they are working with the government to expand access to Mythos 5 for ordinary users and return Fable 5 to public use.
Two weeks ago, US authorities demanded that the company suspend access to these models for all foreigners, including company employees located both in the United States and abroad. Officials cited threats to national security. Anthropic was then forced to completely disable both models for all customers.
