Saudi Aramco oil company helicopter crashes in Saudi Arabia, killing 14 people

A helicopter belonging to the oil company Saudi Aramco crashed in the city of Ras Tanura in eastern Saudi Arabia on the shores of the Persian Gulf. As a result, 14 people died. Reuters reports this.

The cause of the crash is unknown and an investigation is underway. According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), all the dead were citizens of Saudi Arabia. The crash occurred around 6 a.m. local time. The country's Ministry of Energy expressed condolences over the deaths.

On June 26, Saudi Aramco resumed oil shipments at its Ras Tanura terminal. Four months earlier, the company was forced to redirect all its exports to the Red Sea port of Yanbu because the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz prevented ships from entering the Persian Gulf.
