In Kirov, an anti-war businessman was sentenced to a fine in the case of donating to FBK in the amount of less than 200 rubles

The Novovyatsky District Court of Kirov found 62-year-old businessman Alexander Avdeev guilty of financing “extremist” activities and sentenced him to a fine of 330 thousand rubles. The emigrated Kirov activist Maria Rose reported this to Mediazona.

According to her, the case against Avdeev was initiated because of a donation to the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) in the amount of less than 200 rubles. The state prosecution, according to the publication "7x7", requested a fine of 400 thousand for him.

Mediazona, with reference to the case file on the court’s website, notes that Avdeev was charged with another article - about obstructing the investigation of the case. Maria Rose suggested that this was due to the businessman's attempt to break his phone.

“Mediazona” recalls that Alexander Avdeev owns the “Household Goods” and “Vasilek” stores for gardeners in Kirov. On the first day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he posted anti-war leaflets in his locations with the phrases “No ***** [woble]” and “Peace ****** [neighbors].”

“Since then, the businessman has constantly campaigned against the war to everyone he meets: buyers, sellers, friends, relatives, drivers on the streets - and denunciations were written against him,” notes Mediazona.

• FBK was created by oppositionist Alexei Navalny . In 2021, the Moscow City Court declared the foundation an “extremist” organization; the decision came into force on August 4, 2021. The next day, the foundation launched a fundraiser through Stripe, claiming it was secure.
• Mediazona noted that on the first day of the new collection, part of the FBK website address appeared in bank statements. The intelligence services, analyzing these extracts, noticed other identifiers, which expanded the circle of suspects.
• On August 6, 2025, FBK made a statement regarding the persecution of those who sent donations, saying that the fund “does not conduct any extremist activities,” and those who were persecuted by the Russian authorities were called “victims of absolute tyranny and political repression.” FBK noted that donations made from Russian cards through the Stripe service were sent to an American legal entity, which until June 2023 was not included in any registers, and since February 2022, donations from Russian cards have been disabled.
• By April 2026, according to Mediazona’s calculations, at least 225 criminal cases were opened throughout Russia for donations to FBK. As a rule, sentences do not involve imprisonment, but several people were sentenced to real terms.
