What the authorities consider extremism and how to protect yourself
In modern Russia, “anti-extremist” legislation has become a convenient tool for repression. The authorities consider oppositionists, representatives of the LGBTQ community, members of religious organizations and people in creative professions to be extremists. At the same time, the wording in some “extremist” articles and federal law is extremely vague, which gives the security forces the opportunity to interpret them in their favor.
