The obvious choice
The Union of Journalists of Russia received a notice from Roskomimushchestvo to terminate the lease agreement for premises on Zubovsky Boulevard, writes Gazeta.Ru. The space will likely be home to the expanding state TV channel Russia Today. Russia Today is doing the “right thing” - creating, to the best of our understanding, a positive image of the Russian government abroad, and SJR - protecting journalists and organizing “vile provocations”.

Alternative
In the opposition Alternative May 16, 2007 Anton Oresh If I understand correctly, Viktor Gerashchenko is ready to become an opposition candidate in the presidential election. Perhaps even a candidate one. In addition, people so significant in opposition circles, such as Kasparov or Delyagin, quite seriously spoke of his candidacy. If this is true, if Viktor Vladimirovich is our “alternative”, then this, of course, is sad. Just sad.

Allow it or don't allow it - you'll still get it
Law enforcement agencies in Samara, apparently, continue to test the strength of the authorities. The “March of Dissent,” timed to coincide with the Russia-EU summit in Samara, has been agreed upon with the mayor’s office and is scheduled to take place on May 18. Despite this, the police continue to persecute “dissenters.” It just became known that Mikhail Merkushin was detained - he was taken away in an unknown direction, the phone does not answer, writes Novaya Gazeta.

The stricter the better
Russia's Constitutional Court on Wednesday declared illegal provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code that make it impossible to review a court's sentence if it could worsen the situation of the convicted person. The Constitutional Court conducted a review of the legality of the relevant provisions (clause 2 of parts 2 and 3 of Articles 413 and 418 of the Code of Criminal Procedure) in connection with a request from the Presidium of the Kurgan Regional Court.

"Is your hatred of Putin so strong? ..."
In society "Is your hatred of Putin so strong? ..." May 16, 2007 Viktor Shenderovich This letter came to my site - the letter is quite informative, honest and, of course in need of the answer. The question raised in it “hurts” today with many Russians, and that is why I decided to respond publicly. I have no doubt that under the words of Alina Kozakova and her reproaches, many would have signed up to me. Some of them may be interesting and my opinion. So. "Good afternoon!

Another piece
The territory and buildings of the Russian Compound, confiscated by the Turks during the First World War and only partially (approximately 40%) returned to the USSR by the Israeli government after the emergence of the State of Israel, now want to be returned in full. One difficulty is that the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court is located here.

Chain Society
Apparently, they are preparing another “correct” public organization for us – this time scientists. And Vladimir Vladimirovich has already supported this idea: at a meeting with the president, the secretary of the Public Chamber, Evgeny Velekhov, noted that in Russia “there are no serious public organizations that promote the professional activities of our science.” “This issue is important,” the president agreed.

Move the monument - save the country
Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said that the transfer of the Bronze Soldier was necessary to “... stop the gradual, step by step slide of Estonia under the control of Russia, as envisaged by the Sovietization plan, one of the means of implementation of which was the problem of the Bronze Soldier,” writes Postimees.

Without the princess
It naturally happened that the Russian Imperial House in exile had more contacts with the clergy of the Church Abroad. ROCOR priests baptized newborns in the royal family, performed weddings, and took oaths. In 1988, the then first hierarch of the ROCOR, Metropolitan Vitaly, and all members of the Synod welcomed the imperial family at the celebrations dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus', which took place in the USA.
