Let's stop political killings
On February 1 at 15.00 in Moscow at the monument to Griboyedov (metro station "Chistye Prudy") there will be an action in memory of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova, killed on January 19. We invite those who honor the memory of their fallen comrades and do not want to be next on the “hit list” tomorrow. We invite everyone who cares about the future of our country to come. We want to tell you what Stanislav and Nastya were like.

Another step to nowhere
More recently, it seemed that the limit of bias and shilegia on television was the transfer of some kind of spraying in all directions to Mikhail Leontyev or a white-eyed boy from Russian television, which is confused in complex sentences and which is called in any way. However, once again it was proved that everything can have limits and restrictions ... except for meanness. On NTV, the program “Honest Monday” started. Its host is the author of several fashionable novels Sergey Minaev.

Defector or prisoner
On January 27, Georgian television channels showed an appeal from junior sergeant of the Russian army Alexander Glukhov, in which he asked the Georgian authorities to grant him political asylum. Glukhov surrendered to the Georgian police “the other day,” according to the Azerbaijani website Trend News. He had been in the conflict zone since August. At some point, he and his unit ended up in the Akhalgori Gorge, which officially does not belong to South Ossetia.

Obama's foreign policy intentions
The usual question - what does Obama mean for Russia? It is impossible to answer him with any satisfactory. Firstly, so far we are dealing only with intentions, but they are not recommended to judge about them. Secondly, it is more or less reliable that Russia is not in the priorities of American foreign policy. Everything has already been said about the vicissitudes of Obama’s presidency. The image of the state is spoiled. Positions in the world weakened.

Will sit, I said
The monstrously absurd absentee sentence of former Yukos shareholder Leonid Nevzlin, according to which he was sentenced to life imprisonment on August 1, has been recognized as legal. This was decided by the Supreme Court on January 27, rejecting the cassation appeal of the lawyers. Nevzlin’s lawyer Dmitry Kharitonov asked to cancel the verdict and terminate the consideration of the case due to the innocence of his client.

The war is hot and cold
Over the past six months, we have witnessed (still not personally participated in!) two wars: Russia-Georgia, Russia-Ukraine. I’m not going to find out again who is to blame for what, who attacked whom first (and who was just waiting for the command “start!” and instantly rushed), who was the first to get up from the negotiating table (and who then pushed back his chair with a roar) .

Window for Medvedev
The other day I was talking to a smart man. Very moderate, very balanced, at times and places loyal (but in a way that does not harm one’s reputation), at times and in places oppositional (but in a way that does not harm one’s health). A smart man told me: “They will be covered. Now it's completely obvious." “And when?” - I asked. “And when the money runs out, it’s gone.

Daily Journal:
Metropolitan Philaret’s self-recusal fits completely into the overall picture: Kirill’s candidacy was apparently approved at the very top. How else can we explain that on state television channels for the last week there has been a real election campaign for Kirill, who received as much time in the news as the late Patriarch Alexy never received, with all the respect the authorities had for him.
