1945 Opening of the San Francisco Conference
70 years ago, on April 25, 1945, a conference of 50 countries began in San Francisco to draft the Charter of the United Nations. It lasted until June 26th. On the last day of the conference, the UN Charter was signed, which came into force on October 24, 1945. Also at the conference in San Francisco, the International Court of Justice was established, which began its activities in 1946.
