On the night of May 27-28, 1995, an earthquake with a magnitude of more than seven on the Richter scale began on Sakhalin. In the city of Neftegorsk, in 17 seconds, almost all the buildings formed like card houses, and immediately after that fires began in the village. The catastrophe claimed the lives of more than two thousand people. From under the rubble, couples lying in an embrace, exhausted children and the remains alive in the ruins of the inhabitants were taken out.
