The situation in the maximum security colony in Salavat has been resolved, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for Bashkiria told Interfax. “The conflict is over. The situation in the colony was resolved by persuasion. All the convicts returned to their places. About 40 convicts were received at a personal reception by the prosecutor of Bashkiria Andrei Nazarov and the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Viktor Shalygin,” noted a representative of the department.

More than 100 convicts from IK-2 in the Bashkir city of Salavat took part in the unrest, 23 of them barricaded themselves on the roof of the building of one of the detachments. “Protesters beat up 11 convicts, six of them were hospitalized in the medical part of the institution,” RIA Novosti reports , citing a representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service. The protesters demanded a relaxation of the conditions of detention.
