The Costa Concordia captain received 16 years in prison
The captain of the Costa Concordia cruise ship, Francesco Schettino, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for a disaster that killed 32 people. Schettino is found guilty of manslaughter and flight from the ship. In addition, the court recognized his actions as the direct cause of the crash of the liner. Despite the verdict, Schettino will remain at large until the end of the appeal process, which could take several years.
