In June, the increase in deaths in Moscow was the highest since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic
In June 2021, 16,406 people died in Moscow, which is 7,138 people more than in pre-pandemic June 2019 , according to Rosstat data . This is the highest increase in deaths in a month since the start of the pandemic in Moscow. Before this, the worst month was December 2020, when 16,546 people died in Moscow (+5,988 people compared to December 2019). In total, 185,655 people died in Russia in June 2021, which is 48,418 more than in June 2019.
