As part of the cross Year of Culture between Great Britain and Russia, the opening of the XV New British Cinema festival took place.
The jubilee New British Film Festival opened with The Invisible Woman, which was personally presented in Moscow by director and starring Ralph Fiennes. Two-time Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes, best known for such films as Schindler's List, The English Patient, Onegin, and Lay Down in Bruges, is not the first time he has acted as a director. In 2011, he made a successful debut with the film adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Coriolanus.
