Karelian blogger Maxim Efimov, who was forced to leave for Estonia and was charged with a criminal case for criticizing the Russian Orthodox Church, has appealed to the ECHR. In his statement to the court, the blogger states that his criminal prosecution and the threat of being placed in a psychiatric hospital were used to stop his activities as a human rights defender and activist, and that his right to freedom of speech was violated.
