2014, Ukraine, “Bolotnaya case”: the first mass complaints to the ECHR about arrests at protests
In February–March 2014, four major protests took place. In two weeks, more than a thousand people were detained. At that time, this was a serious scale of arrests. In February 2014, the verdict of the first batch of “Bolotniks”, defendants in the so-called “Bolotnaya case,” was to be announced. These are people who, following the “March of Millions” on May 6, 2012, were accused of rioting and using violence against police officers.
