In 2018, more than half of people living with HIV in the United States were over 50 years of age. The fact is that quite a large number of people with HIV are living longer, and this, of course, is good. However, many people become HIV positive over the age of 50, and their health needs differ from those diagnosed at a younger age. Moreover, research shows that diseases that typically appear in HIV-negative people in their 60s and 70s appear in people with HIV in their 40s and 50s.
