The second part of the special project “Submission of the territory: as the Soviet Union and its heiress Russia treat resources, people and nature.” In the south-east of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, two giants of the Soviet metallurgical industry survived their century: the Kadamzha Surnyan Plant and the Hydarkan Mercury Plant. In the USSR, they produced 80 % mercury and antimony and produced the raw materials necessary for military industry and medicine.
