In the Irkutsk region, due to a sharp increase in the number of forest fires, a state of emergency was introduced on June 24, reports Interfax . As of Tuesday evening, 63 forest fires were identified in the region on an area of 4 thousand 781 hectares, of which 13 were localized on 4 thousand 322 hectares. As the press service of the government of the Irkutsk region explained, the cause of taiga fires in the north of the region in 83% of cases is dry thunderstorms.
