Uzbekistan: death of a dictator
On September 2, 2016, Islam Karimov died, the permanent leader of the republic since the time of the USSR, whom international human rights organizations have repeatedly called one of the worst modern dictators - for the brutal suppression of any dissent, torture, and hopeless executions of opponents, the execution of peaceful demonstrations, the massive use of ordinary people and indulgence of corruption.
