China has begun building one of the world's tallest dams
The Chinese authorities have begun construction of a 314-meter dam, which will be one of the highest in the world, AFP reports , citing a statement by the Chinese authorities. The dam, called Shuangjiankou, on the Yangtze River is scheduled to be completed in 2022, according to the Ministry of Environmental Protection. The dam, costing 36 billion yuan ($5.8 billion), will be taller than the world's tallest dam, the 305-metre Jinping 1, also located in China.

Members of Greece's ruling party oppose reforms to deal with EU
The majority of members of the Central Committee of Greece's ruling Syriza party rejected the proposed reform plan implied by the agreement that was reached between the government and international creditors. The majority of Russians surveyed preferred to abstain from loans
Almost 80% of Russian residents consider the current moment not suitable for lending. This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by VTsIOM. The credit confidence index, which shows how favorable Russians consider the current time for lending, reached 22% in June. This is not much different from the June 2009 reading, when it was at 24%. In Perm, part of an emergency residential barracks collapsed; no one was injured as a result of the incident. This was reported by the press service of the city administration, Interfax reports . More than half of the parties agreed to participate in the elections on September 13
