The Levada Center’s June survey shows that the war has not changed a recent and important trend: the number of people who list TV as their main source of information has decreased once again after a short surge at the beginning of the war. The share of people who get information from Internet sources has continued to grow. In Moscow, an equal number of people watch TV and use the internet as their primary source of information.

The economy is entering a recession, which is likely to be recorded in the third quarter. The decline in industrial production slowed in May, but this is largely due to defense orders. However, judging by the dynamics of GDP and high-frequency data on business activity, the economy is experiencing a pronounced contraction. Excessive strengthening of the ruble may complicate the exit from recession.

The data of the June survey of the Levada Center demonstrate that the war has not changed the fundamental trend of recent years: the proportion of people who draw information about current events from the TV, after a short surge at the beginning of the war, reduced again, and the share of it from the Internet sources continued to grow. In Moscow, the share of viewers and the share of those who receive information from Internet sources were equal, and the share of the Telegram channels was 30%.
