Change of leverage: Europe has so far managed to replace US financial assistance to Ukraine, it remains to work out a new model of military supplies
By sharply increasing aid to Ukraine in early 2025, Europe was able to compensate for the lack of new aid from the United States, at least in financial terms. For January-April, total aid amounted to €27.4 billion, which is only slightly below the average for all four-month periods since May 2022 (€28.3 billion). At the same time, Europe accounted for 98% of this amount, while in the previous three years its share was 53%.
