"People have every right to this money." Is it possible to pay compensation under ECHR decisions using frozen Russian assets?
Strasbourg, European Court of Human Rights. A petition has appeared on the website of the European Parliament with a proposal to pay compensation to Russians according to the decisions of the ECHR at the expense of frozen Russian assets. In March 2022, due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the Russian Federation was expelled from the Council of Europe, and on September 16 of the same year, Russia ceased to be a party to the European Convention on Human Rights.
