In the military sports camp, where children from single-parent, low-income families and teenagers who were registered with the commission on minors' affairs were sent, officers and priests of the Yekaterinburg diocese, Father Igor Onkin and Father Alexander Vasilyev, worked with teenagers.

On August 2, the text of an agreement on cooperation between the administration of the Primorsky Territory, the Primorsky Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of Educators and the Vladivostok Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in the field of education, signed on May 22, 2003, was published. The agreement is a document that ensures the implementation of the previously developed Cooperation Program and is valid for a year.

The transfer of the Alexander Nevsky Church, located on the territory of the Novo-Tikhvin Convent of the Russian Orthodox Church, is nearing completion. Prior to that, the building housed the Regional Museum of Local Lore for many years. Initially, the decision to transfer the church building was made in 1991. Then the museum vacated and transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church the Ascension Church and part of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Zelenaya Roshcha.

In July, a Report was published on the activities of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, O.O. Mironov in 2002, which, in particular, touched upon the issues of freedom of conscience in Russia. The document notes that, compared with other years, in 2002 cases of violations of human rights in the field of freedom of conscience and religion have become more frequent.
